DID YOU KNOW: When I was just starting to practice law, I was given a case to litigate. I had just looked at the matter for a few minutes and was waiting to meet the client at the court house. While I waited, I had some more time to review the facts of the matter and realized my client’s last name was Swindle. I couldn’t believe it—I remember saying to myself ‘they don’t teach this in law school.’

Mr. Swindle was the plaintiff and I don’t quite remember how the case ended, but what I do remember is that after the case ended the judge leaned over from where he sat and said to me “[y]oung man I will change your client’s name for free.” That was my first introduction to the practice of law.
